From Spy Optic's Scoop series, the HSX is a new breed of dual purpose ports frames. The Hybrid model melds the functions of an athletic frame with the aesthetics of a fashion frame. It's built from Grilamid and features 8 x 4 Base Toric ARC lenses, Hytrel rubber temple tips and ventilated Scoop technology. As with all Spy shades, it provides 100% UV protection.

What is Grilamid? Grilamid is a nylon characterized by an extremely high bending strength, low density and a resistance to UV damage. So the frames are shatter-resistant, lightweight and durable.

What is Scoop venting? It's the hole toward the front of the temple that eliminates lens fog by promoting airflow behind the lens.

What is Hytrel rubber? It's a rubber that increases in tackiness when introduced to moisture. So when you're sweating, the Hytrel rubber keeps your shades firmly in place.

What is an 8 x 4 Base lens? A lens' Base refers to the amount of arc in the lens and therefore the arc in the frame. A 6-Base is a more flat, square shape creating a more scholarly look. A larger base like a 9-Base is more wrapped and therefore will appear more suited for active endeavors. In 8 x 4 the 8 refers to the horizontal arc and the 4 refers to the vertical wrap.

What is a Toric Lens? The horizontal and vertical Base curves are different.

Any warranty? Yep. Spy provides a one year warranty from the date of purchase to replace any product or portion thereof which is deemed a manufacturer's defect.
